Misson - Outreach - Evangelism
O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.
For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised.
- Psalm 96
IN THE COMMUNITY: MINISTRIES AMONG THE HOMELESS
We pray for those who are homeless and welcome them into our services.
We provide blankets and personal-needs kits at various times during the year.
We participate in the annual memorial service commemorating the homeless who have died during the past year and pray for them and their families.
IN THE COMMUNITY: THANKING THOSE WHO SERVE US
In Sunday services, we pray for First Responders and give God thanks for all who help keep our communities safe.
Periodically, we thank downtown First Responders with a gift of food and other “goodies.”
CHRISTIAN SERVICE CENTER
The Christian Service Center has been dedicated to combating hunger and preventing homelessness through food and crisis assistance in Central Florida for over 45 years.
CSC’s Daily Bread program provides a noontime meal six days a week. The Food Ministry provides groceries to families in need. The Love Pantry supplies food and hygiene items in 68 local schools for families in need.
The Cathedral provides all the servers for DAILY BREAD for one week each spring.
The Cathedral participates in CSC’s SOUPER DOUPER event by voting (with a canned good) for their favorite team playing in the annual Super Bowl game.
The Cathedral also fills BLUE BAGS with groceries at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Since 2008, IDignity has hosted monthly Identification Clinics where volunteers help people obtain Florida ID cards and licenses, birth certificates, Social Security cards, replacement citizenship or immigration records and other documents needed to obtain an ID/license.
Many Cathedral members work during IDignity’s monthly clinics held on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
The Cathedral helps fund IDignity’s operations by filling ‘alms’ cans during the season of Lent.
The Cathedral supports IDignity through attending various events sponsored by IDignity.
In 2019 our EYC group plans a summer trip to work in Jacksonville FL with Team Effort to help rebuild communities damaged by natural disasters. One Saturday a month they work with local non-profit organizations that provide community service.
The Cathedral supports six missionaries serving in Europe, Russia and Southeast Asia. Four missionaries are members of our congregation and two are members of a sister church in the Diocese.
We have two companion churches in the Diocese of Honduras, and send an adult group every year to work with these churches.
