Cathedral Kids: A Ministry Update

"Behold, I am making all things new." ~ Revelation 21:5

A FRESH START

I’m really grateful that our yearly calendar has some chances to set the reset button on life. August brings hope perpetual in our college football escapes (come on Georgia Bulldogs – don’t fail me in Gator country!), the last few weeks to cross activities off your summer bucket list, and of course, the excitement and expectation of starting a new school year. It’s refreshing to anticipate what a new teacher, new class, and possibly even new friends might be like for our young ones. A new year with new responsibilities and new rhythms. My own family has adopted Revelation 21:5 as our theme verse for this year: “Behold, I am making all things new.” I pray that your family may know the comfort and fatherly goodness of God through his Son, regardless of what “new” things you encounter in the coming weeks and months.

As a ministry, Cathedral Kids has some exciting new things upcoming. First, due in part to some providential circumstances in our Undercroft, combined with some input from an ad hoc think tank, we will be moving the Children’s Chapel into the Education Building this month. The benefit of such a change includes easier access for children and parents alike, in addition to housing all our family ministries under the same physical roof. Sunday School will still take place in the Education Building, allowing for a seamless transition into Children’s Chapel on Sundays beginning September 10th. We will need help from YOU to get the space ready in coming weeks, so see the announcements below to be a part of the newness!

Second, I am excited about a new curriculum we are utilizing this year for both Sunday School and Children’s Chapel. It’s called Hearts Alive and follows the lectionary. That means the same scriptures everyone is reading in the Cathedral will be read and taught to our children each and every Sunday. The natural wonder and curiosity of young people will be connected to the Bigger Story God writes through the Gospel of his Son. We will learn the story of redemption and engage in meaningful child-appropriate activities. Plus, there will be a take home page so parents can follow up with their children throughout the week.

God writes good stories. And he is making things new, even in our midst. Can’t wait for you to join us on the adventure!

Warmly,

Adam

About Cathedral Kids

Our Mission is to invite all to know, love and serve God through Christ Jesus. Children from ages 3 to grade 5 are welcome in our program! The children have a place to call their own: Children's  Activity Room, Children's Chapel and Sunday School classrooms are all places of fun and discovery as children learn Bible truths.

There are many opportunities for fellowship, worship, fun, service and education. We also provide activities for families to join together and form relationships with each other. We invite your child to come and grow in Christ with our Cathedral family.

Nursery

We are so happy you have found your way here and pray that will find a joyful and supportive home for your family at the Cathedral. Beginning and traveling the journey of parenthood can be an extraordinary undertaking, and the ministries at the Cathedral have been designed to help families along the way. Our Nursery Director, Sonya, and her staff are well trained, loving, and look forward to seeing you and your baby at the nursery soon.

All of our volunteers and staff have been trained in the Safeguarding Children program and have completed a thorough background check.

Please call 407-849-0680 (Cathedral office) or e-mail Sonya at nursery@stlukescathedral.org, if you have any questions about the nursery at the Cathedral. Also, the Nursery Ministry plans many events throughout the year, to give parents opportunities to get together with other parents for fun and fellowship. Let us know if you'd like to join in.
