The Annual Meeting agenda will include the election of five Chapter Members and presentation of the 2019 Operating Budget.  Our Chapter Candidates for 2019 include the following people.

Peggy Bedford

What is your current and past work experience?  I am currently working part time at Canterbury Center in Oviedo in guest services. I began in the medical field but mostly in the retail field in various positions, responsible for ordering, accounting and management. 

How long have you worshiped at the Cathedral? I grew up at the Cathedral, was confirmed here by my grandfather, and married here. We moved to Atlanta for 8 years then returned to Oviedo, Casselberry area where I attended St. Matthews. I returned to the Cathedral in 2012 and joined the choir. 

How have you served in the Cathedral and other congregations? Currently, I am in the Cathedral Choir. I was on the flower guild at St. Matthews and on their vestry. While on the vestry I was on the search committee to call a new rector. 

Why do you want to serve on the Chapter? I want to serve on the Chapter because it is “home” to me and I would feel honored to serve to make sure this special place is taken care of and brings more people to know and love our Lord.

Ilona Sianturi-Hastie

What is your current and past work experience?  Corporate Officer and General Manager; CRM Airline Training Center (1998-2006); Jet Safety International 2006 – 2013; Managed Accounts Receivable, Customer Accounts; Initiated and established Customer Liaison; Managed Customer Logistics and Visa Requirements; Maintained FAA Regulatory Compliance; Scheduled Aircraft Dispatch and Flight Following. 

2018 - Part owner and operator of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Sanford, FL 

How long have you worshiped at the Cathedral? My husband, our 3 boys and I started to worship at the Cathedral after we moved from Scottsdale, Arizona to Orlando in 2014. 

How have you served in the Cathedral and other congregations? 1997-2012, Resurrection Lutheran Church of Scottsdale, Arizona, I served in Praise and Worship Band, as Sunday School & VBS teacher. This continued when we worshipped at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church of Glendale, AZ (2012-2014). In the Cathedral, I am serving as Sunday School teacher, Lay Eucharistic Minister, Member and Devotional Leader of St. Elizabeth Guild. 

Why do you want to serve on the Chapter? I want to serve on the Chapter as a way to serve Christ and HIS Body.

William H. “bill” Jones

What is your current and past work experience? I have owned and managed Jones Amusement Corp since 1966. My brother-in-law and I built and operated the KOA Campground in Orange City 1970-1980. 

Owned and managed a retail center and warehouse from 1966 to date. I'm now retired, but still oversee J.A.C. and rentals. 

How long have you worshiped at the Cathedral? My wife Nancy and I transferred from St. Mary of the Angels to the Cathedral 1980. 

How have you served in the Cathedral and other congregations?  I've served as usher since 1985, IDignity 9 years, Blanket Drive for Orlando Rescue mission 10 years, member of the Vision committee, worked on permitting process with the City of Orlando for the Cathedral signage, worked on and installed new signage, built and installed new window well grates, member of the Cathedral Prayer Chain the last 5 years, served on Chapter 2014-2017, as Junior Warden 2014-2016, and volunteer help in Cathedral office for last 2 years. 

Why do you want to serve on the Chapter? I would like to continue serving God and the Cathedral in any way possible. To provide my life experiences and knowledge to assist the Cathedral in its development and growth.

Ric Morris

What is your current and past work experience? I currently work with Elektra Music Group, which is part of Atlantic Records for the last 11 years. Before Atlantic, I was at Capitol Records for 7 years. I handle promotional/marketing aspects for the artists we have on the label. Plus, I deal with all the behind the scenes events when artists/bands are touring. I’ve been doing this type of job, which is a very unique job for over 24 years. 

How long have you worshiped at the Cathedral? 22 years 

How have you served in the Cathedral and other congregations? I served on Chapter between 2011 – 2013. I headed the Parish Discernment committee for Rose Sapp in 2015-2016. Currently a lector and have been for 7-8 years. Currently an acolyte and usher. Sunday School teacher throughout 2006-2015 as our three children grew up. 

Why do you want to serve on the Chapter? To help guide the Cathedral for the future using my experience from my previous time on Chapter and the many years of attending and serving this Cathedral. I want to use my voice to speak for the children’s programs along with building our congregation up.

Brad Pyle

What is your current and past work experience? For most of the last two decades I have been a software engineer focused on human performance in training and simulation. Prior to that I taught mathematics at UCF and Rollins. 

How long have you worshiped at the Cathedral? My wife and I started worshipping at the Cathedral in 2005. Since then our three children have been baptized at the cathedral, and one has been confirmed. 

How have you served in the Cathedral and other congregations? I currently serve as a chalice bearer, verger, and as a member of the lay baptism ministry. As much as I can, I work supporting the EYC ministry. 

Why do you want to serve on the Chapter? I want to serve on the Chapter because several people have asked if I would. Prior to that I had not really considered it. However, there is a need, and if people think I can be of service, then I want to contribute.

Mike Rhodes

What is your current and past work experience? I have worked at the City of Orlando for 31 years, starting in 1987 as an aide in the mayor’s office. I was appointed chief of code enforcement in 1993 and served in that capacity for 21 years. I have been the deputy director of economic development for the last three, where we direct the efforts for City planning, permitting, business development, code enforcement, and the Downtown Development Board. 

How long have you worshiped at the Cathedral? I have been at the Cathedral for the last 8 years. 

How have you served in the Cathedral and other congregations? I was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Gabriel’s in Titusville where I served as an acolyte. I have been active previously at Emmanuel and All Saints as an adult, and at First Presbyterian in Orlando where I served on the board of The Christ School. 

Why do you want to serve on the Chapter? I would enjoy the opportunity to use my skills and experience in service to St. Luke’s. We serve an important purpose in our community, and in the diocese. I am excited about where the future will lead us as our community grows.

Andrew Roy

What is your current and past work experience? I am an attorney with Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman, P.A. in Winter Park. I have advised clients on business matters for eight years. Previously, I worked in marketing for the University of Florida Alumni Association. 

How long have you worshiped at the Cathedral? My family and I have worshiped at the Cathedral since 2016. 

How have you served in the Cathedral and other congregations? At the Cathedral, I have ushered (along with my son Camden) and I have served as a chalice bearer. 

Why do you want to serve on the Chapter? The Cathedral is a special place that has helped me to connect more with God. The architecture. The liturgy. The music. The people. Every facet is a critical part of the Cathedral and what it offers in bringing people together in humanity, in worship, and in Christ. As a candidate to serve on Chapter, I want to continue to learn about these facets, work to improve them, and spread the word about Cathedral.

Bob Stephens

What is your current and past work experience? I am currently working as an IT Consultant for Small Businesses and Non-Profits. Previously, I was the IT Director for Ligonier Ministries for the last 7 years. I’ve been in the IT services Industry for 30+ years 

How long have you worshiped at the Cathedral? My wife, Elizabeth and I were married in the Cathedral in 1988, moved away and back, and have been members since 1996. 

How have you served in the Cathedral and other congregations? I served on the Chapter as the Junior Warden from 2002-2004. Currently I serve as a Verger, an Usher, and am on the AV desk committee. I have also facilitated multiple Adult Education classes over the years including Alpha, How Now Shall We Live, Growing Kids God’s Way, Crown Ministries, and most recently Dave Ramsey’s Peace University. 

Why do you want to serve on the Chapter? I am always honored to be asked by the Chapter to serve the Cathedral, the Clergy, and the congregation as a representative of the St Luke mission. I believe my business, Information Technology, and past Chapter experience purpose me to represent the Cathedral Chapter well. The past 12+ months has been a season of change for my family, which has allowed me the flexibility to accept the nomination this year.

Holly Strawn

What is your current and past work experience? I worked in education teaching middle and high school in Osceola and Orange County. I left my last position with Orange County Public Schools as a Curriculum Resource in 2010 to be a caregiver to my mother, who lived with us for three years. Currently I am a homemaker. I volunteer with Orange County Public Schools, on the board of a ministry, and with local Scouts in Troop leadership, and conducting training for my local Scouts District. 

How long have you worshiped at the Cathedral? I have worshipped at the Cathedral since 1998. 

How have you served in the Cathedral and other congregations? In the churches I attended before the Cathedral, I participated in youth ministry and various choirs. At the Cathedral, I have participated in study groups, singles ministry, and the Cathedral Choir. I have taught Sunday School for various levels, presently I assist with EYC Sunday School. Previously, I served on Chapter, and as Senior Warden. My husband, Lawrence and I met at the Cathedral in a singles group, were married here, and both our boys, Robert and Teddy were baptized at the Cathedral. The Cathedral also helped when my mother was hospitalized, and her funeral service was beautiful and comforting. 

Why do you want to serve on the Chapter? I would like to serve on Chapter. I see it as an opportunity to give back to the Cathedral, which has given so much to my family and me. I enjoyed my last stint on Chapter. Working together with other Cathedral members, making decisions on short term and long term issues–it was a privilege to participate in a group of servant leaders who look after our magnificent Cathedral.
